LA QUINTA, Calif. – A quick reminder is vital for professional golfers, but Russell Knox may be going a little too far.
Although there was a pandemic in the middle of the action, Knox is dying to forget he is from Went early February through August without interrupting the PGA tour. It was a series of 10 events – with no The Players canceled – no paycheck.
He started last fall with four top 25 finishes in his last seven events in 2020 and three rounds at The American Express he is well on his way to achieving his best result since 2017.
As for the terrible course of the game last year, the Scot, like most Tour guys, quickly found the silver lining.
» It’s been a strange run, I mean, if I’m being completely honest. I missed the cut on Pebble where I shouldn’t have been. I putted 17 for par three times on the Riviera and then hit 18 to miss the cut, ”he said. “And then I missed the cut at Honda. I hate Bay Hill so I missed the cut there. It was just one of those weird things that I really hadn’t played terrible golf at. “
Knox said last year’s fights made him work harder and he admits he can get lazy at times. That was not the case that off-season and after a third round of 64 he was tied for fifth place and two strokes from the lead at PGA West.
