The Terps reached number 9 in the country and at a peak after a road win over Illinois. The Cornhuskers, on the other hand, entered the game with a measly 2-10 Big Ten record. However, Nebraska stayed close to Maryland throughout the game, with Cam Mack blocking a grid from Jalen Smith in the final seconds to secure the Maryland win.
Last Nebraska win: March 14, 2019 – Nebraska 69 -61; After Maryland won the regular season, they faced Nebraska for the third time, this time in the Big Ten tournament. Nebraska defeated Rutgers in the opening round and brought that momentum to the fore to claim a jaw-dropping victory over Maryland # 21. James Palmer Jr., Isaiah Roby and Glynn Watson Jr. together scored 58 of the 69 points in Nebraska when the Cornhuskers upset the Terrapins.
Best Maryland moment: January 2, 2019 – In only the third Big Ten game of the season, Maryland and No. 24 Nebraska faced each other in an instant classic. It was a back and forth fight, with the game’s largest lead being just eight points. Then freshman Jalen Smith hit a runner three seconds ahead to take the Terps to the top and secure a 74-72 win over a senior Big Ten opponent.
Best moment in Nebraska: January 1, 2017 – In the five games Nebraska played against the Terrapins at the Xfinity Center, the Huskers have only won once. On January 1, 2017, Nebraska passed a 13-point deficit six minutes before the end of the terps. Melo Trimble had a chance to tie or win the game, but missed the summer beater when Nebraska scored a 67-65 win.
