Hasn’t the world learned by now that women cannot and should not be ignored? Apparently not, but Simone Biles is here to remind everyone. The gymnast called out ESPN Tuesday for completely disregarding women on Twitter.

In a now-deleted tweet, ESPN’s SportsCenter shared an image by artist @dayxsleep highlighting some of the « greatest of all time » or goats in various sports. The picture shows big names like Muhammad Ali, Tom Brady and Michael Jordan, but there’s not a woman in sight.

« There are so many women who I can imagine belonging to this photo, but there are none, » Simone replied to the picture and immediately received support from others on Twitter. « Thank you @Simone_Biles for again speaking out in favor of women’s sports and as an extension to women and girls around the world. Ashamed of yourself these days @SportsCenter, » wrote one user.

Others pointed out Serena Williams in the SportsCenter version of the image appears to be compressed in the upper right corner, but not in the original one from @ dayxsleep.

They did wrong in placing Serena this far. You have to zoom in to see her … (far right) pic.twitter.com/dnNAcVqHak

Today she reached out to Simone and asked her who should have been included in the picture. Of course, Simone mentioned Serena as well as the Olympic swimmers Katie Ledecky and Simone Manuel, members of the victorious Soccer World Cup 2019, Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, the basketball player Sue Bird, the Olympic sprinter Allyson Felix and the Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn.

Of course Simone deserves her place in the picture too, considering that out here she gets movements named after her because no one else can pull them off. Fortunately, someone fixed the picture for her.

It has been fixed for you because you forgot about the most decorated gymnast of all time. @Simone_Biles pic.twitter.com/f3ttrY68zM

According to Today, when they reached out to ESPN to comment on the picture, they admitted « that posting the male dominated image of GOATs was a mistake, » which is why they did decided to delete the original tweet.
