CHARLESTON: Former US Open champion Sloane Stephens reached the quarter-finals of the Volvo Car Open. For the first time since the French Open in 2019, she was so far advanced in a tournament.

Stephens, the American who won her Grand Slam title in 2017, ousted Australian Ajla Tomljanovic 6: 3 on Thursday: 6: 4.
