United City FC will face stiff competition on their AFC Champions League debut in 2021.
The result of the playoff draw on Wednesday was the reigning Philippine Football League champions who face J1 league champions Kawasaki Frontale and FC Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao of the Chinese Super League teamed up.
Daegu FC from South Korea and Chiangrai United from Thailand are fighting for fourth place.
Kawasaki has won the J1 League title three seasons in a row , while Guangzhou finished second in the 2020 Chinese Super League.
According to the Philippine Football Association, the national governing body of sport, United City will be the first Philippine club to compete in the AFC Champions League.
