World news – Some companies do not implement tariff cuts

Serious concerns have been expressed about some companies not lowering tariffs on the retail price of some goods.

Economy Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says that when the government cut tariffs, businesses are expected to be affordable for their customers Offer prices.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this should also enable high inventory turnover, but it is unfortunate that there are companies that only think of themselves.

« There is someone who does the cream but the whole goal is that you sell these products at a much more reasonable price and that many more people have access to those services or goods. « 

He says that tourists are too often offered high costs for the same product that the locals are buying, and that this doesn’t have to happen in order for Fiji to draw visitors back to the coast.
