Suryakumar Yadav shattered a virgin girl with fifty blisters and brought India to 8-185 in their fourth T20 international match against England on Thursday.

Suryakumar, who replaced an injured Ishan Kishan, hit six fours and three sixs in his 31-ball 57 to get the highest score for India after being asked to hit. He made his debut in the second T20I but failed to hit in that match. He didn’t play in the third game.

India didn’t have a big partnership, but Shreyas Iyer (37 of 18 balls) and Rishabh Pant (30 of 23) brought the hosts to their highest overall win of the series.

England opened the attack again with the leg spinner Adil Rashid, but Rohit Sharma (12) beat him in the first ball of the game for a six and followed him with a four.

But Rohit’s promising innings were abandoned in the fourth game when he was caught and bowled by Jofra Archer, who had the best numbers of his career with 4/33.

Suryakumar hit Archer in the first ball he faced in international cricket for a six, picked up the gaps and found the limits to keep the scoreboard moving, although the English bowlers were by no means stubborn.

India’s 45-1 power play wasn’t a first-rate performance, but Suryakumar beat Rashid in the seventh game with six and four to make the opening games r KL Rahul (14).

The home team suffered a one-two punch in the form of Rahul and captain Virat Kohli when they were reset to 70 in the ninth game for 3.

Rahul continued his fight as he offered Archer an easy catch in the middle of Ben Stokes bowling while Kohli was at a loss as he danced down the track to crush Rashid in unusual aggression early in his innings.

India was 75 for 3 halfway through , with Suryakumar delivering great weapons. He hit his first international fifty after just 28 deliveries, with a four over Rashid in the 12th.

Pant joined the party when he hit two fours over Stokes in the 13th game and India’s score for 3 to 104 increased.

But Suryakumar was unlucky to have been issued in the 14th after repeated reruns of Dawid Malan’s catch of Sam Curran by the TV referee. Part of the ball appeared to have hit the ground, but the TV referee did not overturn the referee’s decision on the field due to inconclusive evidence.

Ben Stokes took a blind man from a catch to kill Hardik Pandya in 19. Get rid of over, and Washington Sundar was spent last over after repeated reruns by the TV umpire. – PTI
