Thailand has delayed vaccine use Oxford / AstraZeneca after several European countries temporarily suspended shocks after reports of blood clots in some people.
A promotional event hosted by the Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha received his first trick was canceled, and dozens of media outlets were in less than an hour before the scheduled start. Instead, health officials held a press conference to explain that the delay was a precautionary measure on the decision of Denmark, Austria and others rested.
The Danish health authority said Thursday there was no evidence that the vaccine was responsible for blood clots.
Other experts pointed out that out of the millions of AstraZeneca vaccines administered elsewhere, including the UK, no cases have been reported rden in which the vaccine caused blood clots or related problems.
Yong Poovorawan, advisor to the Thai vaccination program, said the delay – until an investigation into the cause of the reported side effect is due – will not have a major impact on the rollout.
Thailand started its vaccination campaign last month with an initial 200,000 doses of Sinovac from China and 117,000 doses of AstraZeneca, also produced locally.
The country intends and plans to administer 10 million doses per month from June to feed at least half of its population by the end of the year, although some say the campaign is too slow and inadequate.
