Southeast Queensland, along with much of Australia's east coast, is soaked in relentless rain that inundates everything from the Sunshine Coast to south of Sydney.

A driver floated away in his Mercedes as heavy rains flooded southeast Queensland with three more rainy days to soak the state.

Swiftwater rescue workers rescued several people from the flooded streets, including a woman who was stranded in Tallebudgera at noon.

On Sunday evening there were flood warnings for the Nerang, Pimpama and Coomera rivers and the Tallebudgera, Currumbin and Mudgeeraba streams.

Areas affected are Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Maroochydore, Caboolture, Coola ngatta, Moreton Island, Cleveland, Caloundra, Beaudesert, Jimboomba, Mount Tamborine and Redcliffe.

For the districts of Central Highlands, Coalfields and Capricornia in Queensland, a separate warning of heavy thunderstorms due to heavy rain was issued on Sunday at 9.46 p.m., when heavy thunderstorms rained down on Byfield and Samuel Hill.

« Heavy thunderstorms can lead to heavy rains that can lead to flash floods in the warning area for the next few hours, » the warning reads.

The Mayor of Gold Coast, Tom Tate, said greater rainfall was expected on Sunday evening towards Monday.

on Sunday evening The Bureau of Meteorology issued another severe weather warning of heavy rain in parts of Warrego, Maranoa and Channel Country.

‘A strengthening upper trough will combine with deep tropical moisture tonight to create a significant band of rain in southwest Queensland If the cloud band thickens by Monday, areas of heavy rain will develop in the morning, ”it said.

Just hours before the thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon, the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service announced that around 130 rescue workers would of the SES in Queensland and the fire and rescue service would go south to help with the flood emergency in NSW.

At least 10 SES flood boats from Queen sland left on Sunday to help with the flood emergency in New South Wales.

According to SES in Queensland, rapid water rescue resources and crews, drones and operators for rapid damage assessments and incident management teams have also been deployed.
