While most Indian players and budding stars struggled to train while locked in their homes during the Covid-19 lockdown last year, Karnataka-Pacer was M Prasidh Krishna, who was on the Indian ODI roster for the Friday upcoming home series against England has been selected, He kept his fitness up in a friend’s garage in his Bengaluru neighborhood. « At first, Lockdown was just like anyone else’s. Like two to three months just at home, not much to do. I just did my basic stuff and a little more later. I was lucky enough to have a friend in the Being close – he had a gym in his garage, so we set up a small station there and trained there. When the Indian Premier League was announced everything went smoothly from then on, « 25-year-old Krishna told IANS / p>
The bowler with the right arm was selected for the ODI series of three games against England starting March 23 in Pune.

Krishna’s domestic accomplishments were impressive. He was a driving force behind Karnataka, which won the one-day Vijay Hazare Trophy titles in 2017-18 and 2019-20. He was the second highest wicket taker (17) after Mohammed Siraj in the 2017-18 edition and also 17 scalp in the 2019-20 edition. At the recently completed Vijay Hazare Trophy, he was one of the top five wicket takers with 14 scalps and helped Karnataka to the semi-finals, where they lost to eventual champions Mumbai.

Krishna believes that his domestic accomplishments as well as IPL helped him. While Karnataka helped him gain attention, the IPL helped him gain experience of playing under pressure.

« It was a combination of IPL and domestic cricket accomplishments. At the national level, Karnataka has done very well in recent years. As a team, many of your players are starting to win tournaments and play big games. I think I am blessed to To be part of the Karnataka side, « he said.

« Even at Kolkata Knight Riders there is nothing to beat in terms of the platform they have given me and the notoriety I have had with so many other stars. When you play IPL, the first thing you have to do is do something. » In pressure situations against international stars and in front of around 60,000 people. Second, you have to come to terms with the sizes of the game. There is so much more to learn from them – how to deal with yourself – you try to stay composed no matter what the situation is. Your work ethic and so many other things are improving, « said Krishna.

Krishna is known for bowling at a good pace and achieving bounce. He has played 24 games and taken 18 wickets in three IPL seasons. He was a bit expensive in the IPL, however, and gave 9.33.

However, Captain Virat Kohli believes he is needed on the Indian team. « I think a man is going to be a surprise package going to Australia (for the 2020 T20 World Cup, which didn’t happen due to Covid-19). Someone who can roll at pace and have bounce. Prasidh has made it into the home arena well beaten.  » It is a great luxury to have this group of bowlers in all formats. Looking ahead to the World Cup, we have enough options, « Kohli said at the beginning of 2020.

Krishna says Kohli’s words gave him a lot of confidence. « Kohli who said this gave me a lot of confidence. To me someone like the captain of the Indian cricket team, talking about you or mentioning your name means you work a little harder and you might get a call and it happened. Me. » I think it boosted my confidence – the way I trained and my motivation, « he said.

Krishna will find it difficult to establish himself given the fierce competition in the Indian team for the slots of the pace bowler. But he doesn’t feel any pressure.

« Not really (when asked if there is pressure to perform). It was the same for me in Karnataka, which was a star-studded bowling cast. It took me some time to get into the cast. I think so (competition) just pushing me. It made me who I am today. It’s good to have competition for you. I think you grow through competition, « he said of the time he was R Vinay Kumar, S Aravind and Abhimanyu Mithun remained the first choice bowler for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy.

Krishna started playing cricket about 13 years ago when he enrolled at the Basavanagudi Cricket Academy in Bengaluru at the age of 12. His father did not play a good level of cricket, although he was quite famous as a player in his area and also a big fan of cricket. His mother was a college volleyball player.

« As usual, like any other kid in the country, I just started playing cricket. I just kept going and started playing a lot of tennis ball cricket and got into one of the camps, then school cricket, then state cricket Different ages level, « he added.

« The pure joy of seeing the stumps fly and knowing batsmen is afraid of the fast bowlers – bouncers and all that. That drew me to fast bowling. »
