Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani has informed PSL franchise owners that the governing body of the game in the country is not in favor of hosting this year’s Asia Cup T20 event / p> A PCB source said this was passed on to the Pakistani Super League franchise owners by Mani during a virtual meeting Thursday after it was announced that PSL 6’s remaining games would be completed in June.
Mani spoke about the Asian Cup after the franchisees wanted to know if PSL’s data collided with the continental tournament.
« Mani made it clear that there is little chance that the tournament will be in this one Year and that it will be postponed to 2023 due to the commitments of the participating teams, « the source said.
The PCB chairman informed the franchisees that the new dates for the Asia Cup will be at the next meeting of the Asian Cricket Council.
PSL 6 was postponed after 14 of the league’s 34 games were completed in Karachi earlier this month due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases among franchise players and officials / p> According to the source, one or two franchisees had also insisted that the event be held in April and pressurize the Cricket South Africa (CSA) board to postpone the Pakistani team’s tour of the country in April / p> « But the PCB chairman made it clear that they couldn’t do this as they had good relations with CSA who had supported Pakistani cricket by sending their entire test team to Pakistan in February. »
