As the Season 20 blind auditions of The Voice neared their end on Monday night, Blake Shelton jokingly implied to a candidate who auditioned on a Maroon 5 song that he shouldn’t join Team Kelly Clarkson because … well, see at which place it is located. “I’m not saying that [she] fired Adam [Levine], » he grinned, but « he’s gone and she’s going there. « Did the cheeky strategy work? Denisha Dalton (Team Legend), » Pillowtalk « – Note: B. – | This self-proclaimed hustler told us in her pre-interview that she formed not just one but two girls’ groups as a kid and then lost her confidence after moving to Nashville, so she hoped a turn of the chair would “rekindle Little Denisha But even before the chairs turned, she sounded like she was on fire. On the intimate parts of her Zayn cover, the way she played with notes and put a hint of tear in her voice has you Really made you lean in. Unfortunately, those parts were so good that they sounded less impressive when buckled up. The bigger the song got, the messier it got.
Awari (Team Nick), « Weak » – Grade: B | This former Air Force boom operator, a divorced father of two, tried to show his children that « Daddy’s determination » was in the hope. And he had to have that. On his SWV cover, he dumped notes that were as sweet as syrup it was dribbled over a pile of pancakes and demonstrated the reach of raising his eyebrows. I suspected we heard a little lack of training every now and then, but Kelly suggested on his runs, « He wasn’t trying too hard, it was just very emotional. » Maybe that was it; He wanted the feeling rather than the precision.
Keegan Ferrell (Team Blake), “She will be loved” – Grade: B | The 21-year-old, who was originally introduced as a truly blind audition and was adopted after leaving on a market alley in China, filled the room with smoke – only from his voice coming here. Keegan seemed a little struggling to hit the high notes Adam Levine hits on the Maroon 5 classic, but he’s definitely got something. Once or twice she might have turned in the direction of bad luck, but overall impressive. John even went so far as to compare her voice to Minnie Riperton’s.
