World news – Thirty-five years later: INSIDE CHERNOBYL | TV black box

The Seven Network announced today that it has acquired the exclusive Australian rights to the UK’s top-rated special Inside Chernobyl, which premieres Monday at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 7.

The full-length special accompanies British presenter and adventurer Ben Fogle on a unique journey as he spends a fascinating week in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, 35 years after the world’s worst nuclear accident.

Fogle receives special access to the infamous Chernobyl nuclear power plant to himself convince of the burned-out remains of Control Room 4 to stand directly under the giant Chernobyl protective arch and face the remains of the original sarcophagus.

Fogle explores the enormous human cost and on that fateful night meets a police officer on duty who witnessed the explosion firsthand. Fogle is also investigating the ruins of Hospital 126, where first responders were treated immediately after the explosion. He also travels to the ghost town of Pripyat and its legendary fairgrounds, which never existed before meeting the incredible « Samosely » residents who still live in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and refuse to leave.

Becomes Chernobyl also discovered the strange place that Chernobyl has now become. Fogle participates in a local police raid on « stalkers » who are illegally entering the zone for thrills. He spots people building makeshift houses in the abandoned buildings and even manages to arrange a rendezvous with a stalker to understand their motivation.

Fogle travels to the Chernobyl forests to learn an amazing story about the Return of wildlife to discover, from horses to wolves to bears. With the planet at the turning point, Fogle wants to understand what Chernobyl’s legacy means in the world today and whether he can find hope in the most unlikely place on earth.
