Thousands of homes on the outskirts of the Indonesian capital Jakarta have been exposed to up to 2.5 meters of water overcast, leading to mass evacuations.
Thousands of residents are evacuated on the outskirts of the Indonesian capital during floods after the dam of the Citarum River broke.
The Bekasi district in the Indonesian province of West Java has been open since Saturday flooded due to heavy rain.
« Some embankments are broken, not only from the river dam, but also from the irrigation embankments, » said Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono on Monday.
Raditya Jati, spokesman the National Disaster Mitigation Agency said more than 28,000 residents in four villages in Bekasi district and 34 villages in Karawang district were affected by the floods. At least 4184 people are evacuated.

In Jakarta, some houses have been submerged under two meters of water and vehicles swept away on the streets, like television footage broadcast on Saturday showed.
At least 139 neighborhoods in Jakarta, home to about 10 million people, have been affected and more than 1,400 people have been displaced, said Sabdo Kurnianto, the city’s civil protection director.
