Richmond Football Club is investigating an early morning incident in a Melbourne bar involving premier player Liam Baker.
Police and firefighters were called to a « Hazmat incident » at the Osborne Rooftop and Bar in South Yarra at around 1:30 am on Sunday, which forced an evacuation of the inside of the venue.
The club refused to describe exactly what it was investigating, reporting that Baker – a two-time premier star – was sprayed with red pepper by a pub-goer after a verbal jam.
Baker had been photographed smiling and having a beer with Tigers teammates Noah Cumberland and Kamdyn McIntosh.
No arrests were made and the police confirmed that they would not be investigating at the time. However, the Herald Sun believes officials checked the venue’s CCTV footage. Fire Rescue Victoria confirmed attendance and made the scene safe.
« We have no comment on the incident, » said a spokesman for the & bar on the roof of Osborne.
Baker was drafted in 2017 and was a key member of the Tigers’ flagged 2019 and 2020 sides.
