Players have grown accustomed to the nearly empty stands throughout a 2020 season severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on public gatherings

But Queensland’s good record with the coronavirus means state government will allow AFL to entertain up to 25,000 fans at Gabba on Friday night

« Queensland has done a fantastic job with COVID and helped the AFL pick up this year, » Zorko said

« The fact that we were rewarded by hosting 25,000 people here and that the fans can come and enjoy it, it’s going to be a fantastic show

Brisbane, who placed second in the home and away season, will have a home advantage over Richmond and most of the support will be in their favor

But the Tigers sneak behind Jason Castagna expects to see plenty of yellow and black in the stands, with the Victorian powerhouse boasting a strong base of Queensland members

“We really love playing here in Queensland and the fact that we can draw crowds to Gabba is awesome,” Castagna said

« The Tiger Army has been great this year and we are trying to get around them after as many games as possible

Last year’s Brisbane-Richmond qualifying final drew 37,478 spectators at Gabba, with the Tigers posting a comfortable 47 point winners

The AFL hopes that around 30,000 fans will be allowed to attend the grand final at the same location on October 24
