World News – UA – ELECTION: Frecklington back as MP, Labor Party back in power

UPDATE 945PM: While there was early success for Deb Frecklington tonight, with the Leader of the Opposition claiming a quick victory at her Nanango seat, the rest of the results do not was not so positive

Despite the increase in its primary vote from the 2017 election (at 45 p.m.), the LNP will remain in opposition for four years

Labor has returned to power for a third term, with pollsters now waiting to determine whether it will be a minority or majority government

The news was even worse for One Nation, with a huge swing against the party across the state, reflected in Nanango.

One Nation candidate Tony Scrimshaw has just 1,476%, a massive drop from the party’s 2744% in 2017

Labor appears to have garnered a large chunk of those votes, with Mark Stapleton in second in the primary votes with 2,816 percent – well above the party’s 1927% 2017 results

PRIOR to 730PM Early results show One Nation’s vote collapsed, with results being reflected statewide

Tony Scrimshaw currently sits on just 1,322% of the primary vote, a massive drop from One Nation’s 4% result of 27 in 2017

EARLY 7PM: After just an hour’s countdown – it looks like Leader of the Opposition and outgoing MP Deb Frecklington will retain their seats as planned

With 1,485% of the votes counted, Ms Frecklington is well ahead of her opponents on 4,973% of the primary votes

This election has been close from the very beginning, and it is likely that the results will come back to the thread to determine who will lead the state for the next four years.

This year also saw one of the highest pre-election turnouts in Queensland history with around half of all voters voting before today
