It’s the end of tonight’s poll call, which has been an amazing evening for democracy in Queensland

Prime Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk is certain to return for a third term, which, if she serves the full four years, will make her one of the state’s longest-serving prime ministers

The only question will be exactly what form government will take, with some seats still on the line, meaning that there is a question of whether Labor will govern on its own or form a minority government with the support of a minor or independent party

However, after getting a 5% swing in their favor on the first poll results, they might not have to worry

The only Labor person not to celebrate tonight is Jackie Trad, who looks almost certain to lose her seat in South Brisbane to Green Challenger Amy MacMahon, as the Minor Party consolidates its grip on voters in Brisbane

NLP chief Deb Frecklington stumbled over her concession speech, which only adds insult to debilitating injury for the now besieged leader

A timing error forced her to take the stage just minutes after Ms Palaszczuk started speaking, meaning TV coverage (and blogging) had to wait until the prime minister was over before returning back to get his comments

After the speech, she said she was not trying to spoil the Prime Minister’s speech and insisted that she would remain Leader of the Opposition, despite not performing as well as the former chef Tim Nicholls in 2017

The final composition of parliament remains to be decided, with thousands of postal votes and pre-election ballots to be counted

Join us tomorrow as the ballot call returns to keep up with the latest news on the election count, take a look at how the campaign is going, and see what it means for the next four years

After settling media questions following her concession speech, Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington made her exit

She went to see her family, had a brief conversation with Federal Home Secretary Peter Dutton, then headed for the door

The last glimpse of the defeated LNP leader was her entry into an elevator surrounded by security guards

She used her protective detail as a shield against media cameras, before the elevator doors closed and that’s it

She denied that she deliberately started her speech after the Prime Minister said she did not know Ms Palaszczuk started speaking when she took the stage

She also firmly ruled out stepping down as party leader, pledging to lead the LNP for the next four years of opposition

This might be an optimistic position, but as tonight has proven, 2020 continues to hold some surprises

Defeated Deb Frecklington describes last five years in opposition benches as « extremely difficult » as she swears to fight four over the next four years to try to get back to power

Thanking her campaign team and staff (as well as her husband and daughters), Ms Frecklington says she has been « almost everywhere » in Queensland during the four-week campaign

– But there are so many people to thank through this campaign, and so many of you are here in the room tonight, â € “ she says

For you and the opposition staff, three years – three years in opposition is hard, five years is extremely hard And we will fight every minute of the next four years for it to arrive at ????

She also sneaks in a jab to the Labor Party while thanking his deputy Tim Mander for « speaking to [Steven] Miles » on the ABC sign

– Now no other party has worked harder than the National Liberal Party You gave it your all, but it wasn’t our time But our time will comeâ ????

In a sign of the scale of the LNP’s loss tonight, Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington tells party supporters that she won her own seat in Nanango which she describes as « very exciting »

â ???? I want to pay tribute to my husband Jason and these three amazing girls [girl] I really really love you all, â ???? she says

Ms Frecklington also thanked NLP Deputy Head of State Tim Mander for handing over to [Deputy Prime Minister] Steven Miles

– I’m sorry we didn’t get there I’ve been almost all over Queensland for the past four weeks, â € “ she says

At times, Ms Frecklington’s voice seemed to drop, but she remained strong throughout a difficult concession speech

With a nod to the campaign’s hard hat and high visibility, Ms Palaszczuk says she « will be in trouble » if it doesn’t mention Maryborough MP Bruce Saunders

– We’re going to do trains in Queensland, â ???? she said ???? Manufacturing is at the heart of everything we do, and we’ll make sure we do more here in Queenslandâ € ”

Prime Minister highlights COVID-19 pandemic, which also played a major role throughout the campaign

â ???? There has never been a time like this in our lives, and I hope we get through it harder and harder, and we don’t look back on the crisis that was, but how we came out of it. of it stronger and better in the future, â ???? she says

– And when times get tough, like in the past, it’s your family who are there to support you through good times and bad, â ?? she says

– And we held on, Queensland We stuck together We looked at our reviews And we came out even betterâ ????

– It is an incredible privilege and I promise you that I will roll up my sleeves tomorrow, get back to work and continue to build a better Queensland Thanksâ ????

Ms Frecklington was magnanimous in her opening remarks to her speech, saying the Queenslanders had made up their minds

« I would like to congratulate Annastacia Palaszczuk on her victory tonight Today I do not always agree with the Prime Minister, but I respect her as an opponent and as the head of our state » , she said

« The people of Queensland have made their decision, and I thank each of them for voting and supporting our democracy This decision is respected by the National Liberal Party »

Ms Frecklington says she thinks she’s run a good campaign and can hold her head up

« Our candidates fought hard but they fought fairly We presented a positive plan for Queensland, a plan to pull the state out of recession and a plan to secure Queensland’s next generation, » a- she declared

« For the sake of Queensland, I urge the Prime Minister to take action to grow our economy and create jobs in this state, » she said

« I urge the Prime Minister to support our most important industries and I urge the Prime Minister to support the regions »

Growing up a few blocks from here, Ms. Palaszczuk talks about the importance of family

– I know in this election there are a lot of people in Queensland who voted for the very first time in the Labor Party, â € “ she says I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I will pay you that respect every dayâ ????

Ms. Palaszczuk says it has been « a difficult year » and people have to go back to work

â ???? I give my commitment to people in this state that my team will roll up our sleeves and get back to work as quickly as possible for you, â € “ she says

Ms Frecklington chose to have her concession speech at the same time Ms Palaszczuk speaks, so we can only follow one of the leaders live

– The people of Queensland have made their decision this decision is respected by the LNP and I am so proud of the campaign that we have carried out And I am so proud of the 93 candidates who had a good race, â ??? ? Mrs Frecklington reportedly said
