Cloudy skies are expected to set in on Sunday, M Claassen foresees a « fairly active » day for the region
A 90% chance of rain is expected throughout the day, with falls of 10mm to 50mm expected
There is a « good chance » that residents of the coast will see thunderstorms on Sunday and a possibility that the weather will turn severe
« There is no direct alert for hail nor for damaging gusts of wind, « said M Claassen
Temperatures are expected to warm over the next two days, after a cool high of 26C on Saturday
He said Maroochydore would record a high of 29C on Sunday, around 3C above average, with a slight dip to 28C on Monday.
Thunderstorm activity is expected to remain « persistent » on the coast early next week, with a 70% chance of rain through Wednesday
