Terrified residents prepare to flee their homes for fear that a nearby dam will burst at any time

Kate Earnshaw, a resident of Pintail Drive in Torquay, said emergency services informed them of the problem on Friday around 9 p.m.

However, at 11 p.m., they returned to tell residents to pack their bags and prepare to evacuate if necessary within an hour, Ms Earnshaw said.
At 12 on Saturday 30 a.m., the mother-of-two spoke to Daily Mail Australia as she stood outside on her street with her wrapped bags and nervously gazed at the dam wall
« It’s 180,000 megaliters of water, it’s 20m deep, seeping around the edges right now and they’re worried that the edges will fall off, and it’s just going to ooze and burst completely ‘
Ms Earnshaw said the whole of Pintail Drive was preparing to leave, with at least 100 people, children and their pets preparing to go to an evacuation center
The whole area is a new housing estate, with most houses less than a year old, many still under construction, she said
‘We have everything ready for use but we just did not wake the children to go to the evacuation center’

Victoria Police have confirmed the roadblock is located on property on Horseshoe Bend Road and is under assessment
« Residents of some surrounding properties on Pintail Drive have been notified of the assessment, but no evacuation has been required at this point, » Victoria Police said in a statement
Local water authorities are investigating and the DELWP (Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning) has been notified ‘
Residents believe the dam is on the Torquay Flower Farm on Horseshoe Bend Road, although Daily Mail Australia could not confirm this with police at the time of writing
Emergency services could be seen installing emergency lighting and assisting residents in the dark and at the dam site at midnight
