The Lilywhites want to get back on track after the sad performance on Saturday on Kenilworth Road, in which they were beaten 3-0 by Luton Town.

James Collins scored a hat trick. Manager Alex Neil described the performance as « unacceptable » and Captain Alan Browne said it was « embarrassing » to leave the field.

They’re back in the championship tonight as they make the shorter trip to Barnsley – which won their last two league games.

The Tykes – under the direction of the French coach Valerien Ismael – are two places and points above the North End in the table.

Callum Styles has been impressive for Barnsley this season, working on the left. Whether Darnell Fisher or Alan Browne, they’ll have a job on their hands.

Cauley Woodrow had a great scoring season last year and already has seven in 20/21 – he’s a tempting head-to-head against Ben Davies.

And on the other end, Emil Riis will be fascinating against Barnsley’s three defenders.

Barnsley lost defense attorney Aapo Halme to a broken toe for four weeks. Polish center-back Michal Helik will likely join the team in his place.

Defender Jordan Williams is about to return but that should come too early for him.
