World News – UK – Billie Piper says Doctor Who stars didn’t envision a lasting reboot

They turned out to be very, very wrong

Doctor Who returned to our screens 15 years ago, and it’s hard to remember a time when it wasn’t on the box (don’t say that «  2019 n ‘has not had a complete series » – we mean good years in the wild)

Under Russell T Davies, the combination of spooky and iconic monsters, thrilling adventures, quirky humor, a who’s who of British actors, and plenty of genuine human drama made it such a clear success that we can’t imagine anyone thinking about it would fail

But that’s exactly what a lot of people working on this first series, before it all came together like the finished episodes, thought As Billie Piper has now admitted, it wasn’t the most experience. nicer because they all thought it was going to fall apart

Speaking to David Tennant – the Doctor to his Rose Tyler – on his podcast, the I Hate star Suzie opened up about the work on this first Who reboot series

“When we started doing it, everyone said it was going to be a failure,” said Billie “So you didn’t imagine it lasted more than three months

« Imagining that 15 years later this is probably the biggest job you’ve ever done and you’ll still talk about it, meet people and, you know, celebrate it. It was a great scope

« It was new ground and using technology used by Hollywood It was a huge gamble And we were all well aware of that when we were shooting it, which kind of meant we couldn’t enjoy it as much as in our second series Everyone went crazy for it, and it was a great feeling to come back «

After ending her own pop career in, as she put it, not answering the phone and being away for a few years, Rose was her first big job as an actress, and she admits that ‘she put extra pressure on herself to really settle down as an actress

Obviously hindsight is a wonderful thing, but looking back none of them had anything to worry about

Elsewhere in the podcast, Billie has covered everything from her record-breaking pop star career (she had BANGERS), to dropping out to get « hammered with Chris Evans », and to how much more she is. satisfied to be in control of the work she does nowadays

Billie and David both returned to the Who franchise after their regular runs ended, the latter returning next year alongside Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor for a new game.
