Bristol City is back in action on Tuesday night as the Robins want to respond to a disappointing performance last Saturday.
Rotherham United were fully valued for a 2-0 win over the weekend as Paul Warne’s side dominated the action at New York Stadium.
And now the West Country Men have the chance to get back to winning ways with a home game against Millwall that hasn’t won in 10 games and is just what City needs to be, taking the full three points off to consolidate and restore a position in the top 6.
The Robins couldn’t beat the capital’s team in the two games in 2019/20, but can Dean Holden’s team do any better tonight?
Massengo and Bakinson use the ball well as a city advance, but the Robins fail to turn possession into an opportunity.
Bennett finds a large cross from City’s left in the penalty area, but half the volley is hit over the bar. Real opening.
City takes a free kick on the edge of the box and Wells shoots. Bialkowski saves, but it looks over the line. Referee Webb says he didn’t cross the line.
Bad start – and now massive uphill. The city had to stay tight, but it’s not here as a shot distracts.
The free kick is blocked, but the rebound comes in after Bradshaw’s attempt is deflected into the corner.
Martin hits a good Rowe free kick – and the ball falls on Wells, but he couldn’t take it. How did he not meet there? So much time and space.
Bentley is quick to wipe a low ball into the area as it rattles off Bodvarsson and Moore.
Very few changes tonight – including a change of formation to the three in the back when Moore and Mariappa come on defense. Massengo has a chance in midfield, Brunt is injured and City is spinning there.
And still no start for Diedhiou! The birthday boy tonight can probably call himself very unhappy.
Just wonder if Rotherham was the game for the changes and for this game – but we’ll see how things play out.
Nice to see that Zac Smith is involved tonight – another City youngster involved in the senior line-up.
In fairness, I don’t think your recent run means much. You are looking at the table and some of our recent games. We broke up against Rotherham and Birmingham. So the table doesn’t mean it’s going to be an easier game.
Millwall is an all-fight team that makes it difficult for you, and they have some good players on the team.
So it’s going to be a tough challenge, and players know it. The focus must be on us and return to our level of performance after a disappointing result at the weekend.
We’re hearing from our sources tonight of a minor disruption in midfield with two other injuries that could potentially lead to injury. We are awaiting confirmation from the club, but here is our city reporter’s predicted page for tonight:
Millwall F. . C.. . , Bristol City Football Club, Ashton Gate Stadium, Gary Rowett, Murray Wallace
