Black History Month is held annually to celebrate the achievements and contributions of black people around the world, where many important figures have been historically underestimated or overlooked.

In October, Richmond Council launched a program of events and activities, including a virtual exhibit, community discussion, podcast series and cultural events.

Council invites residents to come forward and help shape a virtual exhibit that will include stories, experiences, photographs and videos

The stories will explore family histories, traditions, achievements, cultures and experiences of racism The exhibit will be shared online and the resulting materials will be held by the Local Studies Library and Archives to ensure that our collection is representative of the entire community

The exhibition will launch online at the end of October To tell your story to the board, you can email FennaMaynard @ richmondandwandsworthgovuk or visit https: // wwwRichmondgovuk / black_history_month_get_involved
