Frank McAvennie has given Mikey Johnston high praise after the Celtic attacker declared himself « 100 percent fit » ahead of today’s game against Ross County.
The former Hoops and St. Mirren spoke exclusively to Football Insider and said the 21-year-old had « a lot of talent » and was a « breath of fresh air » after a difficult start to the season.
Johnston missed the first four months of the 2020-21 campaign after suffering a knee injury last January.
He returned earlier this month against Kilmarnock and got more minutes in the dramatic penalty shootout against Hearts in Sunday’s Scottish Cup final.
In preparation for today’s Scottish Premiership game against Ross County, which is a must-win, the winger declared himself 100 percent fit and ready to form the squad on matchday.
McAvennie is thrilled to see Johnston return, especially as James Forrest is still out due to injury.
“The first thing he did on Sunday was a step over. He wanted to get it from the player and put it in the box, and I said, “Well done. ‘
« He’s not the big star we need, but he’s a breath of fresh air.
« In the past he has done too much and was too greedy, but he’s just a boy, he’s learning.
« He’s got a lot of talent and we need him. He has this trick, he can go from players. The more players like this, the better because we miss Forrest so much. ”
On other messages, it can be stated that Celtic received £ 3. 7 million gusts of wind before the January transfer window.
