Child support is available to those responsible for raising children in the UK. However, the child must be either under 16 or under 20 if in an approved education to receive payment. Only one person can claim child benefit for a child and it is administered by the Child Benefit Office, which is overseen by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
As a rule, child benefit is paid every four weeks and the British usually receive this payment on a Monday or Tuesday.
However, the Christmas season brings a number of public holidays that can affect the payment of child benefit.
As a result, parents and guardians are encouraged to write down any changes that may affect them.
This will ensure that the individuals are well prepared and possibly even have a better budget for the festive season and New Year.
