James Bond stars Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench, along with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, recorded a popular festive poem in aid of charity.
Charles and Camilla were filmed narrating « Twas The Night Before Christmas » with a wide variety of cast members to help raise awareness about the actors. Benevolent Fund (ABF) that has received more requests for help this year than ever before.
Participating actors included Tom Hardy, Dame Maggie Smith, Joanna Lumley, Ncuti Gatwa and the President of the ABF, Dame Penelope Keith.
The heir to the throne read the famous opening lines of Clement Clarke Moore’s poem: « It was the night before Christmas when no creature moved in the house. « not even a mouse. â ????
Charles is the patron saint of the ABF and came up with the idea of bringing a group of actors together for the reading after being approached by the charity to pursue Covid-19’s huge impact on the acting profession.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, theaters and cinemas stayed empty for Christmas after many actors canceled or postponed work projects.
The prince and his wife recorded the poem in their London home, Clarence House, and were accompanied by a number of actors including Lumley, Hardy and Gatwa, who have been reading their lines over the past few weeks in accordance with Covid-19 regulations.
The ABF supports actors, actresses and stage managers who are unable to work due to illness, injury or old age and who are suffering from financial difficulties.
Prior to the pandemic, the ABF mostly supported those of retirement age, but in 2020 they largely helped the 18- to 47-year-olds.
In April, the charity launched an Emergency Grant Fund to help those who are struggling financially due to the pandemic.
Charles and Camilla have been helping the arts and entertainment sectors over the last difficult period.
And during a tour of London’s 100 Club and Soho Theater in early December, the prince said he was praying. Entertainment venues could be reopening soon.
