World news – UK – Health and fitness are much more than just exercise or what we eat

Gym, do exercise, count calories? The truth is that health and fitness are about much more than how often we exercise or what we eat..

It’s about our whole body, our well-being and our mental state as well. If you’re looking to change your health and fitness, just hitting the gym won’t cut it.

When we look at how everyday life styles compared even two decades ago, there is a huge difference. Longer working hours, longer commutes, more access to cars and public transportation, less leisure time and higher living costs.

And when we’re exposed to coronavirus and lockdown 2. 0, no wonder it is so hard to take care of ourselves, and as a nation we struggle to stay healthy. So what can we do?

I am Olli Booth and I am a traveling personal trainer based in Horsham. I specialize in working with people who have struggled to stay consistent in their health and fitness journeys; Helping them move better, reduce pain, and reach a healthy weight in a sustainable way. I do this by looking at a number of components that affect our well-being, which is what I call the Total Fitness Strategy.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be giving you some easy tips on how to implement and create a lifestyle change that anchors in a series of articles, each building on one component of strategy..

If we focus on just one component, we might make little progress, but usually nothing changes. However, if we look at the mind and body as a whole and understand how they are related, we are on the path to success!

Mental: starting point! How do we actually implement a lifestyle change? With the right mindset and some structure, changing can be a lot easier than you think.

Movement: It’s more than just pumping your heart out. We also need to work the muscles, put the joints into their full range of motion, stretch, and break up periods of inactivity. And that doesn’t necessarily mean spending hours in the gym.

Nutrition: There is a lot of information out there, but the bulk of what will get you the most results is very simple.

Mental Health: Our mental state has a tremendous impact on our mentalities and behaviors. If we want to be more physically fit, we have to be more fit as well.

Sleep: The fact that our bodies require us to spend about a third of our lives sleeping should highlight the importance of sleep, but we often do not give it the respect or attention it needs..
