« We have been training with coach Salas for two months and have really concentrated on my strength work, » said Ceja. « We went through every detail because we know Ramirez is a strong and dangerous fighter. Salas knows him from the time when Leduan fought against him. So we’re going to create a perfect game plan for the 5th. December have. ”
In his final fight last November, Ceja, 28, challenged undefeated WBA super bantamweight champion Brandon Figueroa. Although Ceja Figueroa gave his toughest test to date in the fight against Figueroa with a split draw, Ceja could not win the title due to the lack of weight the day before. Ceja now officially climbs to 126 pounds and expects the extra weight to benefit him against Ramirez.
« We have had some problems getting 122 pounds in the last few fights. So we decided it was time to move up to featherweight, « said Ceja. « I work very hard and I feel stronger than ever. There are no concerns about weight gain. We’re about to end our sparring and I can’t wait to demonstrate my improvements in the ring. ”
The native Mexican from Tlalnepantla meets another Mexican fighter in Ramirez and opens the pay-per-view card, on which two more fights with Mexican or Mexican-American fighters in Sebastian Fundora vs.. . Jorge Cota and Josesito Lopez vs.. . Francisco Santana matchups. With these styles in tow, Ceja predicts another classic Mexican battle.
« This is a fight with two Mexican warriors, so it is going to be spectacular, » Ceja said. “Boxing fans know that when two Mexican fighters meet, especially in the U.. . S.. . There will be fireworks. Ramirez is smart and strong, but we plan to reconsider and work him. This fight is definitely going to steal the show and be a match that people will talk about later. ”
In this WBC title eliminator, Ceja can put herself in the position of possibly fighting current WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. to compete. in the near future. While Ceja plans to be ready for anyone he faces for the title, Ceja believes that his performance in the loss to Guillermo Rigondeaux showed that he can rival highly skilled fighters like Russell.
« This fight on 5. December is a great opportunity to fight for a world title, « said Ceja. « We’re just focusing on Ramirez, but after this fight I’m ready to face whoever the champion is. « . I will say yes right away. People saw what I did to Rigondeaux and that I hit him before the referee stopped the fight too soon. I showed my strength in this fight and I showed how much I like Gary Russell Jr. would give. Problems. ”
