Along with the UK travel ban, which prevents people from entering or exiting Tier 4 areas, this also applies to international travel.

However, some exceptions can be made to allow these destinations to be visited, e.g.. B.. traveling for work purposes. However, it is recommended to follow the rules that apply in these cases.

The government website states, « If you live outside of a Tier 4 area, you can still travel into or through a Tier 4 area to travel abroad if necessary. However, you should carefully consider whether or not you need to. « . Additionally, you should follow the advice of public health in the country you are in.

« If you need to travel overseas from a Tier 4 area (and this is permitted by law, e.g.. B.. because it is for work), even if you return to a place you have previously visited, you should check out the rules that apply at your destination. « 

For these limited exemptions, UK travelers must continue to self-isolate when returning from the Canary Islands.

Although the Canary Islands have not issued an entry ban for British travelers, the traveling tourist accommodations in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will require travelers to present a negative Covid test upon arrival, 72 hours prior to check-in is carried out.

However, the UK government has enforced a law prohibiting non-essential travel outside the country.

Since the new variant of Covid is spreading quickly, we can expect even more changes to the guidelines in the next few weeks.

The Foreign Office says: « If you are traveling to the Canary Islands, regulated tourist accommodations in the Canary Islands require that all travelers aged six and over present a negative Covid-19 test upon check-in no more than 72 hours prior to arrival.

« The same test used when entering the Canary Islands can be used, provided you check in within 72 hours of taking the test. «
