As fans await the inevitable betrayal of the devious Archangel in the second half of season five, a « Lucifan » has presented a compelling argument as to why Maze would have already achieved his goal.
A recent article for CBRcom detailed how Lucifer’s right hand demon was able to simply grow a soul after spending so much time in the mortal plane
Not only did Maze and Lucifer get used to the quirks and weird behaviors of humans, they both made lasting friendships with a number of non-celestials.

While some fans are convinced that Lilith’s Ring of Immortality may contain the soul Maze has been looking for, this fan has suggested that she doesn’t actually need it
They then proposed that Mazikeen being rejected by her mother could be the catalyst for the demon discovering that she has already become more human than she thought
CBR continued, « The fact that Maze was affected by the rejection shows in the way she is emotionally destroyed by the revelation that Linda abandoned her own child when she was young »
« So there is a good chance that at the end of her quest to obtain a soul, she will instead discover, to her surprise, that she has already had one »
Whatever the end result, Lucifer and Mazikeen are pretty even, so their next duel could be part of it for the story book once season five picks up.
However, once the dust settles in Part 2, Maze could be on the verge of making a discovery that will assert his life and permanently heal his friendship with Lucifer.
