Neil Oliver has said that he believes that choosing Scotland for independence would be a « step backwards » and « violate » its human rights.

Speaking to Unlocked, the moderator of the coast said: « For me it is a step backwards to draw a new hard line between Scotland and England in this formal sense. I prefer what I’ve always had, and I curb the thought that someone can take away my nationality and replace it with another.

« I’m pushing this to a point that violates my human rights.

« Without argument, I don’t see that I have to relinquish my right to understand myself as I am for a politician. «  »

His comments follow a series of polls that show the growing popularity of Scottish independence. The most recent poll is an Ipsos MORI poll for STV, in which 56% are in favor of Scottish independence.

Oliver, the former president of the National Trust for Scotland, has publicized his thoughts on Scottish independence, calling the uncertainty caused by the prospect of a second referendum a « cancerous presence ». «  »
