Steve Bruce says Jeff Hendrick will be fine after the midfielder is sent to the Republic of Ireland during the international break.

Bruce admitted that he will be evaluating his internationals’ reactions to the break, saying that many are returning to their clubs with a « jump » while his Newcastle team take on Chelsea this lunchtime.

« There is no greater honor than playing for your country as a player, especially if you did well, » Bruce said in his pre-game press conference. “When you get back into club football, you have that leap.

« Jeff Hendrick had a difficult week, but being a professional footballer is a part of it. He had a red card, but we will all have many.

« He’ll be fine, but he’s a good professional and a good boy. We assess where they have been and what they were up to and how they reacted. But he’s had a difficult few weeks, yes. ”

Youngster Elliot Anderson has made a big impression in training, according to Bruce and will inevitably get a first-team chance if he continues to play the way he recently did.

Anderson has yet to make his senior debut for Newcastle but received a new long-term contract earlier this year and has been training with the first team for several weeks. Bruce is very excited about the young midfielder’s future and adds that he will have chances to play soon.

« If you haven’t seen the one goal he scored against Bolton the other day, it’s worth taking a look, » Bruce told Zoom reporters.

« We’ve been training him for the past three or four weeks now with the problems we had in midfield with Isaac, Jonjo and Matt Ritchie.

“In those three weeks he made us all smile and gave us something to be happy about because he’s a very good player, the boy. We hope he continues to improve. He can only improve if he plays with us and jumps up.

« He’s going to stay with us – he’s not going back to the academy. He will train with us every day. We are very happy about him. He was a breath of fresh air, the boy.

« It’s great to see. If he carries on as he is, it is inevitable that he will get his chance. He did it very well. ”

Newcastle reportedly want to find a bargain for midfielder Raphael Holzhauser, who has nine goals and seven assists in just 12 league games for Belgian club Beerschot.

The recent aftermath of the long-running Newcastle United takeover saga was not just talk of Tyneside, but talk of the football world as well.

Now Steve Bruce has to remember his team and move forward without a change of ownership or new support.

The twists and turns are not over yet, however. Current owner Mike Ashley « is considering all options » after the Premier League refused to take over £ 300m.

The journalist Jeunes Footeaux on HITC reports that the club is determined to get the Austrian national player into the Premier League. The 27-year-old has impressed in the Belgian premier league.

The 27-year-old from Holzhauser won promotion with Beerschot last season. He has continued his impressive form in the top division this season and has now attracted interest from across Europe, including Newcastle and Hertha Berlin, according to the report.

Fortunately for Newcastle, his contract expires in the summer and he could therefore be available at a cheaper price in January.
