Traffic Scotland has warned drivers of « wintry conditions down the line this morning » and added that driving conditions are « VERY difficult ». .
The warning comes as some of Scotland’s highways, including the Queensferry Crossing, have been closed to traffic due to the weather.
All traffic is diverted over the A985 Kincardine Bridge. Chris Tracey, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “The safety of bridge users is paramount. We have therefore decided to temporarily close the Queensferry Crossing due to persistent adverse weather conditions.
“We are constantly monitoring the structure in real time using a bespoke system of weather sensors on the towers and deck of the Queensferry Crossing. “We apologize for the inconvenience this closure has caused road users and will reopen the bridge when it is safe to do so. ”
The A720 to the west in Lasswade is currently closed due to an ongoing traffic accident, according to Traffic Scotland.
The A68 near Camptown is closed in both directions due to a fallen tree blocking the road. Officials have advised motorists to use alternative routes.
Traffic Scotland also said the A74 south to Junction 14 – Elvanfoot – is closed due to adverse weather conditions.
The Met Office has issued several amber weather warnings for snow, rain and ice across Scotland and the rest of the UK in the coming days.
