British traffic cops were called to Eastleigh Railway Depot in Hampshire at 2am. Monday at 50 p.m. after reports that a worker was seriously injured by a machine

Paramedics also ran to the scene after a railroad worker was reportedly injured by a machine.

In a statement, UK traffic police said: « A man in his forties was arrested at the scene of the incident and taken into police custody for questioning.

They added, « Officials are currently working alongside the Rail and Road Bureau to determine the full circumstances surrounding the railroader’s death. « 

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley said: « This is a tragic incident and our deepest condolences go to the man’s family, who have been assisted by specially trained officers.

« In addition to the Department of Rail and Road, a full and thorough investigation into the incident is underway to determine exactly what led to the sad death of this railroad worker.

« I would like to address anyone who thinks they have useful information to get in touch with us by sending an SMS to 61016 or 0800 40 50 40 quoting the reference number 229 dated 30. November calls. ”

Manuel Cortes, general secretary of the TSSA transport union, said the union had expressed its condolences to the worker’s family and said: « This is a sad reminder of the need for strictly safe labor practices at all times on our railways and all of our workplaces. «
