Coventry City is said to be increasingly hopeful of returning to the Ricoh Arena next season.

The Sky Blues play for the second year in a row in St. Andrew’s in Birmingham City. Talks with the Ricoh Arena Wasps are reportedly set to reopen in the New Year, raising new hopes for a lease for the 2021-22 campaign.

Wasps are reportedly having financial problems and although there was previously a stalemate in talks between the rugby club and City, their current situation may make an agreement more likely.

If they don’t come to fruition, Coventry has the option of extending their stay at the St. Andrew’s to be extended for another year.

However, the club’s ultimate goal is to move to its own new stadium at the University of Warwick after partnering with the university.

When City moves back to the Ricoh Arena next season, they hope to do so as a championship club. Mark Robins’ men are currently outside the drop zone and three games unbeaten before heading for the derby at the bottom of the table on Tuesday night.
