Rob joined the BBC in 1995 as a reporter at BBC Radio Kent He moved to BBC South East Today when it launched in 2001 and became a co-presenter in 2009

Rob said working at South East Today has been a « joy », adding: « It has always been more than a job »

He said: “It’s a huge decision for me – I joined BBC Radio Kent in 1995, when we were still riding quarter inch tape with a razor blade and chinagraph pencil!

« So much has changed 25 years of friendship and building in my life I met my wife Gemma at Radio Kent, and our home and family are here in Kent »

Rob, a father of two, has covered thousands of stories for BBC South East Today, including the Shoreham Airshow disaster and Church of England sex abuse investigations in Sussex The interviews include high profile politicians, rock stars and a man who kept a 6ft lizard in his bath

He continued, “Making live TV news is a team sport, and together we have won three National RTS Program of the Year awards – which I believe is a record.

« And there was so much fun and laughs too – alongside Polly Evans for many years and then Natalie Graham more recently – and you really couldn’t find two people nicer, funnier, and more. sharp to the world They’re great and I want to pay tribute to both of them – as well as the tech crew, producers, cameramen, graphic designers – everyone « 

Rob made headlines in 2008 when he rode 2,000 miles around Britain in his yacht, raising £ 15,000 for charity, and again in 2018 when he canoeed the Medway for Sport Relief

She said: “Rob has been a brilliant friend to all of us in the Tunbridge Wells newsroom and cares deeply about every member of the team. He’s also one of the most talented presenters in our organization, making everything he does look maddening and effortless.Anyone who co-featured Rob would agree he’s generous, supportive, and a lot of fun. / p>

« We laughed together everyday, on and off the air, and I will miss him terribly I know however that Rob has enough talent at his fingertips to pull off whatever he’ll do next. »
