The A68a is now only 200km from the island and there is a real chance it could get stuck in shallow coastal waters.
The British Forces South Atlantic Island (BFSAI) reconnaissance flight was sent to assess the situation.

Satellite imagery taken in the past few weeks also suggests that the edges of A68a are crumbling quickly.
