Strictly Come Dancing will be back this Christmas for some festive fun!

Friday 25th. December 2020, 3:00 p.m.

Strictly Series 18 may only have just ended when comedian Bill Bailey took the Glitter Ball home, but there’s a lot more Strictly Come Dancing to see this year!

Strictly speaking, the Christmas countdown will take viewers through 16 years of the hit show, unveiling some of the most iconic performances of all time.

Given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, there won’t be a traditional Strictly Christmas special this year with previous attendees returning to perform some festive number.

However, BBC One will instead broadcast Strictly: The Christmas Countdown, which, much like the Strictly: The Best Of … series aired earlier this year, will highlight some of the most memorable dances in the show’s history, commented by Tess Daly , Claudia Winkleman, the judges, the experts and strictly alumni.

Strictly will take a slightly different approach to its Christmas Special this year in the face of COVID, with the show looking back on the 25 memorable dances of all time chosen by the UK public.

« From the perfect 40s onwards, the routines and dances that made us laugh got us laughed – this show will have it all, » teases the BBC.

For those who want even more Strictly Content after the Series 18 finale, don’t worry – the special starts with a brand new number on Christmas from the Strictly pros.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will return to host Strictly’s Christmas countdown as the show’s judges, alumni, and professional dancers help them reveal the most iconic routines in Strictly history.

Besides Tess and Claudia, singer Alesha Dixon will return to the Strictly Xmas Special.

Dixon, who is now a judge at Got Talent in the UK, won the dance show in 2007 and was a judge on the jury from 2009 to 2013.

She will be commenting on the 75-minute show along with Ed Balls, Alesha Dixon, Jay McGuiness, Erz Oduba, Mark Ramprakash, Ashley Roberts, Jake Wood and Karim Zeroual.
