MALANG: A powerful underwater earthquake struck Indonesia’s main island of Java on Saturday, but no tsunami warnings were issued and there were no immediate reports of major damage or loss.

The US Geological Survey said the 6.0 magnitude quake was centered at a depth of 82 kilometers 44.8 kilometers south of Sumberpucung town in Malang district in East Java province.
