The biggest scenario, however, has to be the Eagles’ self-inflicted wounds. Coming into the game with just three turnovers in the first four games, the Eagles returned the ball five times (plus one on the lows) in the game, including three in the first half Three fumbles and two interceptions will never make job Virginia Tech has scored four times in those five turnovers, with 70 more penalty yards dooming the Eagles

Jurkovec had as large a day gap as he could get, finishing 28/51 for 345 yards He had some very impressive throws throughout the contest, but a lot more mistakes than we’re used to at the end he forced too many throws as the game progressed and showed clear frustration as the game progressed
Jaelen Gill burst onto the stats sheet and was probably the only bright spot of the day, with a number of big catches He finished with 6 receptions, 104 yards and a touchdown David Bailey was able to get into the ground very early in the game, but finished with just 41 yards on 10 carries As the game progressed and the Eagles fell behind, Travis Levy began handling the ball to no avail
The team’s defense was on display in this game They were way too slow and still had issues tackling Hooker and Herbert constantly broke tackles and BC couldn’t adapt good enough at quarterback running plays Defensive strategy seemed right, but execution failed Defense allowed over eight yards per carry, and a total of 350 yards on the ground Hooker only had to throw 111 yards considering the efficiency of the team’s race
Hokies improve to 3-1, while Eagles drop to 3-2 and join Georgia Tech next weekend
