Each week during the football season, a few collaborators will answer five questions regarding the upcoming game This is a way to bring the staff and the rest of Knights Nation together, to see if they agree or not with the BGB crew

In our fourth roundtable of the football season, Jeff Sharon, Jeremy Brener, Eric Lopez, Brian Murphy and Andrew Gluchov take their places at the roundtable to answer questions about the UCF Knights and their confrontation with the Cougars of Houston

Jeff Sharon (@Jeff_Sharon): It’s going to be harder than people think Houston’s passing offense is one of the best in the country behind UCF, and the high school will be contested here We’re used to get the Knights off to a quick start, but they really need the defense to step it up in the second half, put pressure on Clayton Tune and cause turnovers Otherwise, if the Cougars gain momentum in the second half, it could be a replay of Memphis

Jeremy Brener (@JeremyBrener): The Knights need to play four solid quarterbacks like they did last week They can’t fold in the second half like they did in their two losses Last week a been an improvement, but it must turn into a wait

Eric Lopez (@EricLopezELO): Getting off to a UCFast start Houston has been outscored 38-13 in the first quarter this season UCF is set to have favorable clashes against a passing defense from Houston who is ranked 64th in the country and ranks 94th out of 101 FBS teams in terms of passing efficiency

Brian Murphy (@Spokes_Murphy): If they want to keep winning they have to keep the pressure on the defense We saw how well it worked against Tulane as the Knights registered five sacks and 11 tackles for the loss, the two peaks of the season Senior defensive tackle Kenny Turnier had two of those sacks, and maybe that was because he wasn’t putting so much pressure on himself Defensive line coach Shane Burnham said this week they decided to do pulling Kenny « out of the box » against Tulane, allowing him to watch the first two sets with the hope that he would relax and respond. It certainly seemed

« I just think he squeezes He puts a lot on himself, » Burnham said of Turnier « He wants to make plays He knows we’re maybe a little thinner than last year to this post And I think sometimes when you try to play too many games you just don’t «

Andrew Gluchov (@StatBoyDrew): It’ll be a happy points offense game John Madden-esque’s answer is to say ‘whoever scores the most points will win the game’ Simply put, the defensive secondary UCF is going to have to stop They’ve been decimated by untimely unsubscribes, transfers that have not received NCAA clearance, injuries and inexperience Now they will have to step up and make a stop

Jeff: I’m not above saying this could be the biggest offense in UCF history, and we’ve had some good ones In other words: if he keeps that pace , expectations will be high again for 2021, and NFL scouts will start to take note

Jeremy: It’s amazing what DG was able to do and he single-handedly became the most exciting part of this season I think we might see some 500+ yard performance from him. this topic is he does most of this without their no 1 WR in camp, Tre Nixon He also turned Marlon Williams from a marginal NFL guy into a potential draft pick Unbelievable that Gabriel is just a real one second year student

Eric: Who knows? That’s the exciting part and the reason we’re watching I predicted ahead of the season that he would take a giant leap in his freshman year, similar to what McKenzie Milton did from 2016 to 2017

Brian: I hope those fans who are frustrated with UCF’s two losses and their chances of playing for a conference championship are still tuned in to this offense every week. Don’t take this for granted.I know UCF has been carrying out one of the most dangerous attacks in the country for a handful of years now, but a quarterback like Gabriel who regularly posts video game numbers, makes this team a must-have even if they won’t reach their ultimate goal Remember when we were all just happy to find football in our lives? Don’t lose sight of this gift and know that you only have a few more chances this year to see Gabriel throw and score and throw and score and throw and score and score and run and throw and score and score

As far as it can improve, why even suggest that there is a cap? When he can throw for 422 yards and five touchdowns while taking more than half of the fourth quarter to slow down and run the clock – as was the case against Tulane last week – it’s clear there are heights unseen in his game I am delighted to have the privilege of seeing what he will do next

Andrew: Ceilings? We don’t need smelly ceilings! We’ve seen great players don black and gold Cherish it Savor it Enjoy it While a loss can happen, that doesn’t take away from the magic we see on the pitch Records are on the way being broken It doesn’t happen every day Curricula go through cycles, so we have to appreciate when our school is doing well because even the bluest of blue bloods end up falling

Jeff: High school Do you remember when we thought it was the best unit on the team? Well a host of injuries and churns at times turned UCF’s defensive strength into a handicap, as we’ve seen against Memphis and Tulsa Houston HC Dana Holgorsen is one of those blood-smelling coaches that hammers the weakness of a defense over and over again until you adjust, and I expect him to release Marquez Stevenson on Saturday

Jeremy: Tackle The U of H love to run football with the 6-foot-3 mobile QB Clayton Tune He’s not an easy guy to take down If I’m Dana Holgorsen I put football in my throat of the UCF to limit the possessions of DG and because it is the most exploitable part of the defense of the UCF

Eric: Pass Defense I wrote earlier about how Houston’s pass defense is among the worst in the NCAA Well UCF isn’t much better The Knights’ defense ranks 84th for passing efficiency and 87th for passing yards allowed on 101 teams Injuries and starts have made high school very young and lean This n not something you want to have against an attack driven by Dana Holgorson

Brian: Guess I have to mention Dana Holgorsen by her full name in this answer because everyone else has been giving in to peer pressure

Of course, it’s the pass defense. Infractions aren’t the only reasons this game has a pass north of 80 But it’s not just the secondary; UCF linebackers have also looked uncomfortable on cover all season long.I am intrigued to see what UCF is doing with cornerback Aaron Robinson – are they making him follow Stevenson for the second year in a row? Also, a name to watch out for is safety Derek Gainous He recorded his first career interception last week, and he’s very likely to play a big role in it

Andrew: Technically, I’ve answered this question already Houston is a happy team to pass and they’re going to tackle UCF high school It’s gonna fall on high school to do whatever they want, whatever They have to keep Houston’s passing game in front of them and not trying to be heroes They’re going to be tested game after game and can’t let mistakes pile up The upper-class trio of Richie Grant, Antwan Collier and Aaron Robinson is going to have to keep everyone focused Like Brian said, Robinson can be a big X factor depending on how they use him Offense can make them a solid and continue not to offensive too fast The last week worked well

Jeff: Marquez Stevenson If it weren’t for Marlon Williams, he’d be The American’s top receiver. He’s fast, seasoned and dangerous Plus he wears an Apple Watch during games:

Hi @SHPawdcast – Did you notice Marquez Stevenson wearing an Apple Watch * in the field *? imageTwittercom / LNgDBMLZof

Jeremy: Senior DE Payton Turner has three sacks in as many games If he finds the right games against inexperienced tackles, it could force Dillon Gabriel to make a mistake

Eric: Senior WR Marquez Stevenson is a two-time All Conference first team player and arguably, along with Marlon Williams, the top WR in AAC Stevenson led the Cougars last season with 52 receptions for 907 yards and nine touchdowns, third most points in AAC Stevenson is also the best kicking returner in conference He had two return touchdowns last season

Brian: We paid enough attention to the antennas; let’s go to the floor, where Houston will challenge UCF with senior Kyle Porter, who made 48 touches in Houston’s last two games He racked up 241 yards of scrimmage in that span He has a bigger opportunity because Mulbah Car , who pushed his way through the Knights’ defense last year for more than 130 rushing yards, was hampered by an ankle injury There is a chance to recover from their two-game absence on Saturday, so the UCF defense could have their hands full with that 1-2 punch

Andrew: I’ll also say WR Marquez Stevenson He’s so good I guess, going back to Jeff’s comment on wearing an Apple Watch, he wants to make sure his steps are counted I’ve already refereed flag football and took over 10,000 steps in one morning, but I’m really curious how many steps Stevenson has in a match

Eric: I explained how the two teams battled the pass Guess what? This game is a battle between the UCF No 1 passing offense in the FBS (4356 yards per game) vs Houston’s pass attack at 14th place (3210 ypg) as well as the first 2 quarters in passing efficiency at the American at Dillon Gabriel (1709) and Clayton Tune (1668) Expect lots of deep passes and lots of points Defense that can create turnovers ends up winning this one This is where UCF has a big advantage, as the Knights are among the best in the country with a plus-8 turnover margin, having forced 14 turnovers in five games Meanwhile, Houston only forced a single turnover while committing six games in three games for a minus-5 turnover margin. UCF wins, 56-42

This week’s total in the UCF / Houston game is 82, the highest total of any college football game since November 23, 2018, when the total was 88 in the Oklahoma / Virginia game. -Western The final was Oklahoma 59-56 which passed easily

UCF’s last two games had totals of 99 and 85, and that 85 came even though the Knights stopped accelerating for most of the fourth quarter That total increased by a full touchdown since the start of the week, but it would honestly have to increase another TD for me to even consider taking the sub

Now the spread (UCF -25) gives me a lot more break When was the last time UCF beat an honest quality team on the road? Maybe last year’s explosion in Temple? The Owls were 5-2 at the time.Otherwise, you’ll probably have to go back to that 31-30 game in Memphis in 2018 to find a moment when the UCF prevailed against an opponent as menacing as Houston.

Andrew: Hoo boy It’s gonna be a scorefest This one is a bit of a draw because the UCF offense rarely makes mistakes and when they do it’s against good defenses. UCF is not facing good defense and should be able to throw hay after hay UCF has played against offensive behemoths before and generally found ways to win Houston will try to follow the best passing attack in the country, but will make too much UCF error, 52-42
