World News – United States – Northbound lane of I-15 reopens in Orem after crash, authorities say

OREM – A northbound lane of I-15 reopened at 1600 North in Orem after an accident involving a semi-trailer and five other vehicles, authorities said on Monday

The crash was first reported around 12:18 p.m. about a mile north of 1600 north, according to the Utah Department of Transportation

Authorities are still investigating cause of crash, Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Nick Street says Two vehicles rolled into the crash, but it is not known whether the semi rolled. said Street

One person was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening, and several others were treated at the scene for minor injuries, he said

The semi was carrying steel beams which fell off the truck and blocked the freeway, Street added. Some of the fuel also spilled from the truck and a local company helped a highway patrol team clean up the spill, he said

Drivers are advised to take exit 273 and use Geneva Road or State Street to bypass the crash, then use Pleasant Grove Boulevard or Main Street in Lehi to get back onto the freeway, UDOT said

By 2:15 p.m., a northbound lane of the freeway had reopened in the area, but there are still major delays on I-15, State Street and 1300 West due to the crash and people exiting the freeway to bypass it, said Street

There is currently no estimate of when the highway will reopen, according to UDOT Further details of the crash were not immediately available
