Angelos' case made national headlines when he was sentenced to at least 55 years in prison in 2004 for selling marijuana. The penalty was higher because Angelos had a gun with him even though he did not use it. Over the years hundreds of people petitioned the White House to convert Angelos' verdict, including the judge who sentenced him.
