LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Eleven boroughs in Southern California are due to enact a regional home stay ordinance already at 12:59 p.m. Saturday. m.
The move comes after available intensive care beds in the area fell below 15% on Thursday due to a new order from Governor Gavin Newsom.
The intensive capacity of the region was 13. 1% due to the growing number of coronavirus cases, the California Department of Health announced on Friday evening. It is expected to stay in place for three weeks.
The Southern California region consists of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, Imperial, Inyo, Mono, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
Schools with exemptions, along with other « critical infrastructures » and retail stores, can remain open for 20% of capacity. Restaurants are limited to take-out and delivery services only.
The order also prohibits gatherings of people outside of the immediate households, with a few exceptions, and requires travelers arriving from outside of the state to fill out an online form. It allows retail businesses to remain open to personal purchases if there is already a curfew.
Garcetti also called on the police and the public prosecutor to enforce the order, which is punishable by felony sentences.
