. . World News – United States – Samuel Little, U.’s Most prolific serial killer. . S.. . Story, dies

. .

Samuel Little, a serial killer who confessed to more than 90 murders across the country and served several life sentences, died Wednesday in a California hospital, officials said.

Little, 80, was pronounced dead at 4:53 a.m.. m. the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said in a statement.

An official cause of death has not been disclosed and is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Corrections Department said.

Foul play is not suspected at Little, said Dana Simas, spokeswoman for the department. Correction officers said he had been sick for a while.

Little was serving three life sentences without parole for killing three women in Los Angeles County in the 1980s.

But he confessed to many more murders around the country and the FBI called him the most prolific serial killer in U.. . S.. . story.

He was first convicted of the murder of the three women in Los Angeles County in 2014, two years after he was extradited to California on narcotics and after DNA reconciled him with the old crime scenes.

Little lived a nomadic lifestyle and moved around a lot. It targeted women involved in prostitution or drugs, the FBI said. He was a former boxer who beat and strangled most of his victims, whose deaths were often considered an overdose or other cause, according to the FBI.

The confessions began in 2018 after Little was interviewed by the FBI by Texas Ranger James Holland, who was searching for information about an unsolved murder in Odessa. Little wanted to talk, hoping to move prisons.

« During this May interview, he went around town and state and gave Ranger Holland the number of people he had killed in each location. Jackson, Mississippi – one; Cincinnati, Ohio – one; Phoenix, Arizona – three; Las Vegas, Nevada – one, « said Christina Palazzolo, an FBI crime analyst in attendance.

This sparked a nationwide effort by officials to confirm that Little was responsible for the unsolved murders, which in old cases led to his indictment. Little even drew sketches of his victims.

In October 2019, FBI officials said they believed his confessions in all 93 murders were credible and that they had verified 50 of them.

Gary Ridgway, nicknamed the Green River Killer, has been convicted of 49 murders and confessed to about 20 more. Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy each murdered more than 30 people, but Bundy was suspected of having more.
