WWE really moved forward with the storyline between Aalyah Mysterio, 19, and Murphy, 32, during this week’s episode SmackDown on FOX
Murphy and Aalyah were featured in a brief behind-the-scenes segment at the start of the series where Aalyah told Murphy her mom Angie was open-minded and told her about Murphy, and just wanted her daughter to be happy. She then revealed that father Rey Mysterio and brother Dominik Mysterio refused to even discuss Murphy with her. Murphy said he understood why Rey and Dominik despised him, but he’s not the same person he once was Murphy then said he would publicly apologize to the Mysterios later in the series, in front of the whole world Aalyah asked Murphy if this was what he wanted to do, and he said he had to do it.The segment ended with Aalyah grabbing Murphy’s hand to console him
Murphy and Aalyah later came to the ring, walking arm in arm down the ramp together Murphy reiterated what he said earlier, about how he understands why Rey and Dominik despise him, and that he’s not the same person he was before Murphy said he had done terrible things as a man, but had to respond to Rey and Dominik to their faces Murphy called the duo father and son in the ring, but Seth Rollins stepped out instead Rollins tried to stir the pot and recruit Murphy and Aalyah for The Greater Good, promising to accept their relationship and wholeheartedly embrace it Rollins said that he would even marry Aalyah and Murphy on the spot
Rollins then insulted Dominik, calling him a coward and implying that he was jealous of all the attention Aalyah received, and that’s when Dominik attacked out of nowhere. Rollins ended up gaining the upper hand but Murphy made the save and Rollins was sent to the ground Dominik then went to get Murphy as Aalyah pleaded with them Rey went down and joined Dominik as a double team Murphy until Aalyah gets in the way and saves Murphy from a 619 Rey yelled at her daughter and asked her what she was doing
The argument continued until Aalyah said she was in love with Murphy Rey said he couldn’t believe what he was hearing, then tried to get Aalyah to leave with him and Dominik Aalyah refused as boos from the virtual crowd picked up Rey and her son left the ring as Aalyah helped Murphy up off the mat He tried once again to get Aalyah out with her family, but she stayed with it Murphy under Rollins’ gaze from the stage The segment ended with Murphy and Aalyah kissing & while kissing in the middle of the ring
It is not yet clear where WWE is heading in this long feud with The Mysterios, Rollins and Murphy It started in May on the RAW brand Rollins, Murphy, Dominik and Rey were all recruited for the blue brand during the WWE Draft 2020 and, although it was indicated at one point that WWE was ending the storyline, they are clearly moving forward with him.
