Charles Sturt University topped the list of Australian universities with the highest full-time employment rate for graduates, a report found.
The Graduate Outcomes Survey for Quality Indicators of Learning and Teaching (QILT) has listed the universities where graduates are most likely to get full-time appearances, and Bathurst’s Charles Sturt was the best in the country last year at 84.7 percent.
The University of New England, whose main campus is in Armidale in the northern NSW plateaus, was the only other university with a full-time employment rate (80.6) above 80 percent.
Charles Darwin University (79.1), the University of Southern Queensland (78.9) and the University of NSW (76.2) rounded off the top 5.
The two lowest full-time employment rates for college graduates were recorded by the University of Western Australia (54.5) and Murdoch University (54.8).
« Most universities saw a decline in full-time student employment in line with the general decline in labor market conditions in 2020, » the report said.
« However, there were only three universities that saw their full-time employment rate rise between 2019-2020, and these were all regional universities; the University of Southern Queensland (2.8 percent) and the University of New England (2.4 percent)) and Southern Cross University (above 2).
« Graduates from regional universities are more likely to be older, study externally and part-time, and maintain a permanent connection with the labor market, which partly explains why graduates from these universities may have performed better in the current downturn.

The universities where graduates are likely to have higher median full-time salaries were also detailed, with the University of Southern Queensland ($ 70,700) leading the way, followed by the University of Tasmania ($ 70,300), the University of New England ( $ 70,000) and Central Queensland University ($ 69,700).
