UPDATE, 4:00 p.m .: The Department of Education has confirmed that a previous bomb threat at Ipswich State High has been posted.
A department spokesman said a precautionary lockdown began at around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday after staff were made aware of the threat.
« Like all state schools in Queensland, Ipswich State High School has the safety of its students and staff is a top priority, « he said.

UPDATE, 12.30pm: Ipswich State High School officials have confirmed that the school was the subject of a bombing threat today.
In a statement posted on social media, a spokesman said security procedures were implemented quickly in response.
It is believed that the threat came from a phone call just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Following the official procedures of the Ministry of Education, the students were evacuated and the police called. said the spokesman.
UPDATE, 12 noon: The forces are still working to secure the site of an alleged bombing at Ipswich State High School.
It is believed that evacuees have been advised that they may have to stay on the school premises until 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
