‘ Cake Boss’ star Buddy Valastro is on the mend after mutilating his hand in an accident at his bowling alley, but there is a long road ahead of him
“I guess [I’m feeling] as good as I can with the situation,” Valastro said on “Today” Monday morning “It’s just a real freak accident, and it was crazy how it happened but i am really very proud of my sons and brothers in law who really helped and took action to help me free myself and help me put me on the road to recovery «
Valastro, 43, said his hand got stuck in a pin crimping machine in his home bowling alley when a rod pierced his right hand
« He just blew half of my hand, » he said « … I screamed and my sons came back… I have no idea what kept me calm, » recalls he from the terrifying ordeal « I thought I was going to pass out … Something told me to stay calm, and I said to my sons, ‘You have to get me out of this machine' »
Valastro’s teenage son Buddy Jr appeared next to his father during the interview and shared the chilling moment he had to help free him from the machine
The owner of Carlo’s Bakery said that after two surgeries his recovery remains an « uphill battle », but he is grateful for all the prayers from the fans who hope they can return to the bakery soon
« It makes me want to fight to get better for them, » said Valastro. « It makes me want to be the man I was »
